Suspected kidnappers invade Bayelsa government house

Bayelsa state government house yesterday, June 12 came under attack by unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.


AThe gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers were said to have made attempts to kidnap some Chinese nationals working on the proposed state government Castle Hotel lodged in the expatriate quarters of the government house.


The report further stated that the Chinese nationals who were six in number were woken up by the invasion of the gunmen some minutes before midnight.


The gunmen were said to have gained access to the government house through the waterways behind the complex to perpetuate the act.


A source in the government house who narrated what happened said: “One of the Chinese nationals was bold enough to tackle one of the kidnappers and disarm him. The Chinese national later opened fire and the sporadic gunshot attracted heavy security presence at the main entrance of the government house.”


Another source cooraborated the story saying: “The Chinese man attacked one of the kidnappers and collected his gun at the Castle Hotel in Government House, Yenagoa.”ccording to Leadership, there was panic in the vicinity as the gunmen exchanged heavy gunfire with security operatives attached to the government house.
