1.Salvatore Sirigu from Sevilla to Chelsea
The biggest name on the move between Spain and England on deadline day could be an Italian international belonging to a French club - with Paris Saint Germain’s Salvatore Sirigu potentially ending his loan spell at Sevilla to join Premier League leaders Chelsea.
It is fair to say that Sirigu’s six months at Sevilla has not gone well. On arrival the 30-year-old was expected to challenge youngster Sergio Rico for a starting spot, and coach Jorge Sampaoli rotated at first. But in just his second game Sirigu was sent off for a crazy elbow on Athletic Bilbao’s Aritz Aduriz, and he has not played even a minute in La Liga or the Champions League since.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is looking for an experienced back-up keeper though, with Asimir Begovic joining Bournemouth, and is more likely to value his countryman’s past successes at PSG and Palermo.
2. Riza Durmisi from Real Betis to Liverpool
Liverpool’s long search for a left-back has apparently lead them to Real Betis defender Riza Durmisi, who has impressed for the Andalusians since his summer arrival from Brondby.
The 17 times capped Denmark defender settled quickly after that €2 million move, and has already made 15 Liga and Copa appearances, including an excellent game at wing-back in Betis’ 1-1 draw with Barcelona last weekend.
The 23-year-old appears open to the move - saying this week it would be “idiocy” not to listen to an offer from the Anfield outfit, and that he had spoken to former Brondby teammate and ex-Reds defender Daniel Agger about life on Merseyside.
Durmisi is popular at Betis, but the club would be unlikely to stand in his way should Liverpool agree to pay his €20 million clause.
3. Antonio Adan from Real Betis to Liverpool
Durmisi is not the only Betis player said to be interesting Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, with verdiblanco goalkeeper Antonio Adan apparently also on the Reds’ radar.
After coming through the ranks at Real Madrid, Adan came to prominence when he infamously displaced Iker Casillas at the Bernabeu, during Jose Mourinho’s turbulent spell as coach there.
That ended badly for all concerned - but the now 29 year old has resurrected his career at Betis, playing over 100 times for the La Liga outfit as their regular first choice number one.
Although still prone to the odd-clanger, he has impressed enough to also be linked to Marseille. Sunderland and Southampton are other teams rumoured recently to be considering paying his €8 million release clause.
4. Pablo Insua from Deportivo La Coruna to Swansea
Young defender Pablo Insua could be set to cut short his loan spell from Deportivo La Coruna to Leganes, and join Swansea on another loan deal, which would include a permanent transfer next summer.
Insua has long been marked as an emerging prospect - with Valencia, Sevilla and Manchester City among the clubs linked with him through recent years. But for some reason he has never really settled into the first team at Riazor, and was allowed back to Leganes on loan last summer even after impressing hugely during their promotion season last year.
Now aged 23 and with six months regular top flight experience under his belt, the time seems now right for the Galician to make the next step up. And Swansea manager Paul Clement appears to have made a note of his potential during his time as Real Madrid assistant coach a few years back.
5. Nani from Valencia to Hull
An outside bet this perhaps, but reports in both England and Spain suggest that new Hull coach Marco Silva is hoping to use his Portuguese connections to entice ex-Manchester United winger Nani to Humberside.
Now 30, Nani’s career has been on the up since he left Old Trafford, with the last 12 months having seen him play a starring role as Portugal won Euro 2016, and then an attempt to be an experienced dressing room head during turbulent times at Valencia.
Although he has two goals and six assists after settling pretty quickly at Mestalla, the regular on and off pitch troubles at the La Liga club might make a return to the Premier League look attractive. Valencia also need to get money in to balance the books, so they could let him go should they recoup the €8.5 million paid to Fenerbahce last summer.
